A bespoke bench dedicated to the founder of a Wellington-based charity is now in-situ as part of a memorial garden at its offices.
Rob Eyers, founder of Telford Aftercare Team (TACT), died earlier this year following a short illness.
TACT was established by Rob in 2012 to ensure there is a clear and safe programme of recovery options for those who are substance dependant.
The rustic design of the bench at Strickland House, home of TACT, includes elements cut from a cherry tree in the memorial garden.
Treasa Reilly, representing Smallwoods of Coalbrookdale, works on the Build a Bench project, and the TACT bench is one of many bespoke designs crafted for good causes.
TACT directors Joan Jones, Rob Hedison, Tom Currie and Paul Naylor were present for the unveiling of the memorial bench.
“I think it is a wonderful design,” said Tom. “The incorporation of the cherry tree is a lovely touch and one I know Rob would approve of.”
Mr Eyers was represented at the unveiling by his sons Alfie and Sam, with granddaughter Jemima making a special appearance, and the boys were delighted with the memorial.
“The bench is beautiful,” said Sam. “I can see myself sitting here many times in the future. Dad would love it.”
