A Shropshire HR expert is celebrating the perfect end to her first year in business – by being shortlisted for one of the county’s most prestigious awards.
Ishbel Lapper’s company HR Solutions Shropshire is one of four finalists in the best new small business category of the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards.
Delighted Ishbel, of Telford, said the news was the icing on the cake of a fantastic first year running her own business offering tailor-made HR and employment support to businesses across the region.
“I am thrilled to bits to be one of the four businesses shortlisted and cannot believe just how successfully this first year has gone,” said Ishbel (pictured left).
“I have far exceeded the targets I set for the business, both in terms of the number of contracts I have gained and the amount of exposure I have received. To say it has been a whirlwind year is something of an understatement.”
The awards – run by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce – are the biggest in the region and recognised as a beacon of excellence. HR Solutions Shropshire is shortlisted in the best new business 1-5 employees category along with Lower House Equine Clinic, 3D Printz Limited and XscapeNow!
The winners will be announced at a glittering black-tie ceremony at Telford’s International Centre on June 15.
“I know the competition to win will be tough, but I am just delighted to have got this far,” added Ishbel. “To receive this sort of recognition so early in the life of the business is beyond my wildest dreams.”
Ishbel has worked in and run HR departments across a range of sectors over the last 20 years but decided to set up her own company to offer her experience to as wide a market as possible.
She has worked for some of the country’s best-known retail names with experience in the manufacturing, transport, automotive and social housing sectors. Her specialisms include all aspects of employment law and contracts as well as chairing investigations, disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, TUPE and performance meetings.
