Mobility specialist business Ableworld has presented staff from Hope House children’s hospice with a specialist children’s wheelchair.
Shrewsbury and Oswestry Ableworld manager Pete Morgans donated the foldable wheelchair during a promotional event outside the Hope House charity shop, near Shrewsbury’s Percy Throwers Garden Centre.
Pete and assistant manager Emma Thomas set up a test track by the Hope House charity shop for customers to have a go on some of their mobility vehicles. They also took the opportunity to gift Hope House with an unused ex-display model paediatric wheelchair.
Pete said: “We have shops in Shrewsbury and Oswestry, so are aware of the important services provided by Hope House children’s hospice. We wanted to donate this wheelchair to a local charity that makes a big difference to the lives of families in the area.”
Hope House clinical therapies lead Emma Wyatt said: "Thank you so much to Ableworld for donating a specialist children's wheelchair that will enable our more independent children to have use of a wheelchair on our trips.
"Specialist equipment for children who visit us for respite stays can be expensive so, as a charity, we’re extremely grateful to Ableworld for thinking of us."
