Family tour business goes international

A Shropshire family holiday business is expanding into Europe as it heads for its tenth anniversary.

Wisteria Tours was originally set up in 2016, specialising in bespoke coach tours to famous gardens and historic homes from its Shropshire base.

Now the company - run by sisters Jacky and Sue Burnell and their mother Jackie Crick - is expanding into Europe by popular request.

The sisters organised a get-together – the Wisteria Gathering - for customers and supporters in Shrewsbury recently, where they unveiled their plans to over 60 guests.

“We had a very positive response from everyone there. We organised a tour to Normandy last year which was our first venture abroad. We were expecting a limited response, but the places sold out in a day.

“So, for 2025 we are expanding by adding a holiday in Luxembourg via Germany and Belgium in September. And in June we have organised a visit to Guernsey and Sark which is another new destination for us,” said Jacky Burnell.

She added that Wisteria Tours would still be organising the day tours and short breaks to stunning gardens and historic homes that remains the core of the business.

These include a trip to Cambridge, Burghley House and Deene Park House in July and a London trip to the royal palaces in August.

“We are all very proud of what the business has become and the support we have from our customers. It is always exciting getting on the coach and welcoming people at the start of an adventure together. We feel very privileged that they trust us to deliver that adventure,” said Jacky.

The family team is already planning an exciting itinerary or tours and holidays for 2026 as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations.
